For the best results in gardening, cultivating a beautiful lawn or farming, your soil should be tested to rule out any factors that could prevent your success. This is especially important if your goal is the production of organic foods for your family or for sale.

We can test your soil for any of the following contaminants:

  • Heavy metals
  • Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
  • Pesticides
  • Herbicides
  • Improper pH

With correct information about the condition of your soil, you can make the right decisions about plant selection, soil preparation, and fertilization. You can also avoid over-fertilization, which can stimulate excessive plant growth and increase the likelihood of some diseases.

How to Take a Soil Sample

For a garden, dig a small hole 6 to 8 inches deep. For a lawn, dig a smaller hole 2 to 6 inches deep. Then use a trowel to scrape soil from the side of the hole using one stroke, traveling from the top of the hole to the bottom. The soil obtained from this scraping should be sent to us for analysis.
