ETR Laboratories has been providing water testing services to homeowners, real estate agents, home inspectors, mortgage lenders, well drillers, hospitals, and other professionals since 1995. Over 31 years we have processed hundreds of thousands of water tests and conducted over 1,000 in-field well inspections. Our ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation through the ANSI National Accreditation Board, for applicable testing as listed on our scope, is not a marketing claim. It is a rigorous international standard that requires regular third party audits of our methods, equipment, personnel, and data quality. We have maintained this accreditation continuously for seven years.
ETR Laboratories By the Numbers
State-of-the-Art Lab
ETR operates a state of the art in-house laboratory in Leominster, Massachusetts. Every single test we offer is run by our own scientists using our own equipment with one exception — our PFAS forever chemical testing, which is performed by a single trusted independent accredited laboratory we have selected specifically for that analysis. Either way your results always come with the same free expert consultation from our in-house team who can walk you through exactly what was found and what it means for your household.
Our laboratory is equipped at a level that rivals university research facilities and far exceeds what most private water testing companies operate. Our instrumentation includes two scanning electron microscopes with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy capability for particle identification, elemental composition mapping, asbestos detection, and microplastics analysis at the nanoscale, a nuclear magnetic resonance machine for specialty chemical and compound analysis, two inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers for precise trace metal and heavy metal analysis at parts per trillion detection levels, two liquid scintillation counters for radioactivity and radon analysis, two gas chromatograph mass spectrometers for volatile and semi-volatile organic compound detection, a high performance liquid chromatograph, three capillary electrophoresis systems, a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer for molecular identification and compound characterization, a total organic carbon analyzer, multiple HACH instruments for rapid water quality parameters, full wet bench chemistry capabilities, and additional specialized instrumentation for a broad range of analytical applications.
Very few private water testing laboratories in the country are equipped at this level. This depth of instrumentation is what allows ETR to offer one of the most comprehensive menus of in-house water tests available to residential, commercial, industrial, and research clients anywhere in the United States.
We employ full time quality control managers whose sole responsibility is evaluating the accuracy and integrity of the data we produce. We voluntarily participate in advanced proficiency testing studies that benchmark our results against other certified laboratories nationwide. These are not requirements. They are commitments we make because the accuracy of our results matters to us as much as it matters to you.
Excellent Customer Satisfaction
We are honored to have more than 370 reviews by verified customers on Angi (formerly Angie’s List) who gave us our rating of 4.8 out of 5.0. This is a typical response received from our customers:
As a first-time homebuyer, I am learning a lot of things for the first time and have many questions. When I had some results I didn’t understand, Nick spent a long time walking me through the results and was patient with my questions. After I had the seller shock the well, I had more questions after a second test was done with a different lab. Nick spent a long time explaining results, potential problems and if needed, possible remediations for problems. I cannot recommend Nick enough!
Our job is only done when you know exactly what steps to take to ensure healthy water for your family!
